The Client

atHome designs and builds exceptional outdoor rooms from garden offices, home gyms, art/music studios and home salons to glamping pods and guest houses. The company was founded in 2020, after identifying a growing demand for garden rooms after the coronavirus pandemic prompted more people to work from home than ever before. With a strong desire to take working from home, hobbies, passions and home additions to the next level, atHome are driven to deliver solid, high quality and impressive garden structures to suit specific requirements and optimise their customer's work-life balance.

The Brief 

ZUZU was given the brief from Sean Hogan, atHome's Director of Construction, to create the brand from scratch and set up the business, accounts, brand, website, social media channels, marketing, sales and financial processes.

Market Research 

ZUZU conducted intensive market research UK-wide, exploring competitor products, prices and offerings. This helped to shape atHome's product offering, market positioning, target audience and pricing model which paved the way for huge start-up success in their target areas in Scotland.

The Brand & Website  

Our team got quick to work with the brand name and enlisted the help of one of our creative partners Radiator Digital to design the logo and build the website. 

ZUZU's in-house marketing team created the website content and arranged for CGI's to be created from the garden room designs followed by real images once builds were complete. This included keyword research and search engine optimisation. 

atHome has strong values and a commitment to use sustainably sourced materials including the Siberian Larch wood cladding. This, plus the fact they would be surrounded by nature in people's gardens, it seemed fitting to have a product range named after the natural environment. Thus, 'The Nest', 'The Burrow', 'The Hive', 'The Fox Den' and 'The Tree-House' were born.

Accounts & Processes 

The ZUZU team also got to work in setting up efficient processes from finance to admin and sales. This included setting up a CRM system to manage initial enquiries through to completion, setting up an email and phone number, accounting system and financial procedures. 

Marketing & Social Media 

In addition to keyword research, website content and SEO, social media accounts were set up for atHome (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube). All platforms have been well received with an organic following increasing week by week. The team also implemented Google and Facebook ads which are performing very well with enquiries flooding in daily. The ZUZU team also created business cards, flyers, brochures and other sales materials.

atHome even got some press attention early on when Glasgow Live shared some images of a garden pub completed by the atHome team. 

Branded uniforms were designed for the build team to suit all weathers from t-shirts to warm fleeces and waterproof jackets and an atHome branded van is currently being designed to maximise exposure when out and about.  


ZUZU also managed the first six months of enquiries and sales, managing the lead process from initial enquiries and follow-ups right through to booking site surveys, sending quotes, organising installation dates and payments. The start-up has seen huge success with constant enquiries coming in, surveys booked and garden room installations happening on a daily basis. After smashing sales targets, ZUZU is now working on exciting new designs with Sean and the team. 


After a successful launch and efficient processes now in place, the ZUZU team are now training and handing over to a dedicated sales team to continue that side of the work (as atHome has big expansion plans!) With a ZUZU support package in place to assist with specialist marketing activities, the website, social media and admin support, atHome can confidently focus on what it does best - building exceptional garden rooms.
